WINNER

The URBN HOOP® received the iF DESIGN AWARD 2026 in the Product Design – Sports/Outdoor category. In the final jury voting, the system achieved 320 out of 500 possible points, placing it well above the official winner threshold of 275 points.

Since 1954, the iF DESIGN AWARD has been recognized as one of the world’s most prestigious seals of excellence in design. The iF Design brand is internationally established as a symbol of outstanding design quality. The award honors achievements across all major design disciplines, including product and packaging design, architecture, UX/UI, branding, and service design.

The international jury gave particularly high marks for differentiation. The URBN HOOP® stands out not as a variation of an existing standard, but as a distinctive streetball system with a clear design identity and genuine engineering substance. Competing against 10,003 entries from 68 countries, evaluated by 129 independent jurors, the URBN HOOP® ranked well above the international average in its category. The award recognizes the consistent integration of engineering, manufacturing expertise, and cultural vision, while reinforcing the system’s competitiveness on the global stage.

The jury particularly highlighted the innovative net system, featuring a Paracord construction and specially developed connectors that significantly reduce wear at critical connection points while delivering the signature “swish” sound. URBN HOOP® received a Notable distinction in the Built Environment category at the 2026 Core77 Design Awards. In the Professional category, the international jury presented only nine distinctions in total: one Winner, two Runner-Up awards, and six Notable distinctions. This places URBN HOOP® among a very small group of recognized projects. The jury acknowledged its relevance to the design of public spaces and confirmed URBN HOOP® not only as an innovative piece of sports equipment, but also as a distinctive element of urban culture and contemporary city design.

The Core77 Design Awards are among North America’s most respected design competitions. The Built Environment category recognizes projects that advance architecture, public spaces, urban design, and cultural infrastructure. This recognition confirms the URBN HOOP® not only as a sports product, but as a distinctive contribution to the quality, identity, and usability of contemporary urban spaces.

The URBN HOOP® was honored with the Design Award Brandenburg 2025 as a winner in the Product Design / Industrial Design category.

The Design Award Brandenburg is a prestigious regional design competition in the German state of Brandenburg. Organized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour, Energy and Climate Action of the State of Brandenburg, the award recognizes outstanding achievements in design while highlighting the creative and economic strength of Brandenburg’s design and creative industries.

Jury Statement

The competition recognizes outstanding design across all industries, without a dedicated category for sports equipment. The URBN HOOP® distinguished itself against projects from furniture, industrial, lifestyle, and technology design. From approximately 150 submissions, the eleven-member jury initially selected 31 nominated projects. This nomination alone is considered a significant distinction, recognizing exceptional design quality. Ultimately, only 12 projects—including the URBN HOOP®—received an award and prize money.

This achievement confirms that the URBN HOOP® is officially recognized as one of Brandenburg’s best design projects of 2025 across all industries. It is a strong testament to our design excellence, engineering innovation, and our unique position at the intersection of sport, culture, and contemporary product design.
